The Iconic Burgh Island Hotel is looking for a Receptionist to join its team. Being situated on it’s own private island, it is an incredible opportunity to be part of. If you are passionate about great customer service, then this may be the right role for you.

Job duties include:

  • Managing the booking process ensuring all relevant details are taken and the customer journey is personalised
  • Make the customers’ stay a memorable experience by providing excellent service, communication and administration
  • Answer the phone, take reservations and deal with any enquiries
  • Be detail oriented to ensure that all booking details and relevant reports are accurate and communicated to other departments.
  • Prepare daily reports as required
  • Manage guest payments, invoices, receipts and reconcile shift transactions
  • Manage comprehensive hand over to following shift.
  • Communicate closely with Housekeeping on room departures, stayovers and arrival rooms for cleaning and opening of sofa beds.
  • Report maintenance items to the maintenance log book.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction at all times.

Due to access to Burgh Island, candidates must be fully flexible with their times and availability

Receptionist Supervisor

Job duties include:

  • Supervise daily shift process ensuring all Team Members adhere to standard operating procedures
  • To acts as Hotel Duty Manager when assigned Duty Manager shifts
  • Greet guests as they arrive, focusing on personal recognition in a warm and authentic manner
  • Conduct Team Member briefings, debriefings and delegate specific tasks at the start and end of every shift
  • Assist in the induction of new Team Members to create a great new starter experience
  • To ensure, by supervising the Front Desk Team Members, that service provided to guests is at the highest level at all

Summary of the job role

  • To assist the Pilchard Head chef in the maintenance of the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.
  • To assist Pilchard head chef in close control of food costs.
  • To maintain highest standards of cleanliness and compliance with H&S regulations

Business Responsibilities

1. Assist with Monthly stock-take.
2. Prepare dishes to the highest standards of quality, safety and consistency
3. Ensure recipes are followed to ensure the risk of cross contamination are kept to a minimum
4. Ensure brand standards are followed to ensure consistency of quality
5. Work as part of a team in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food.
6. Follow standards and regulations relating to cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
7. Ensure the Executive chef/ Pilchard Head Chef is informed where food or other supplies need to
be ordered.
8. Check the quantity and quality of received products.
9. Work with Executive Chef/Pilchard Head chef to ensure departmental compliance with all
relevant regulations (e.g. COSHH, HAACP, Fire & Food Hygiene)
10. Ensure the Executive Chef/ Pilchard Head chef is notified of equipment malfunctions and
breakdowns.

Responsibilities for Standards

11. Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
12. Instruct, supervise or coordinate activities of cooks or workers engaged in preparation,
cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food.
13. Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
14. Order or requisition food or other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.

16. Inspect supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
