Once you land on our sands, our famous sea tractor will carry you over the waves to our Art Deco haven and from there, you’ll be free to roam the island, dine in our onsite restaurants, or even the Grand Ballroom, and sip on something tall and strong in our Palm Court Lounge, looking out across the waves.
Burgh Island is shrouded in history. In the Second World War, Burgh Island’s convenient coastal location meant the island would serve as a recovery centre for wounded RAF personnel. Since then, it has become an island retreat known for its stories of party past. From famous guests to being considered an institution of luxury, Burgh Island has always been infamous in its own right. In fact, the hotel was once featured in Vogue and the Island’s infamous beach house was originally built as a writer’s retreat for none other than Agatha Christie! Here, Christie wrote two novels set on the island, ‘Evil Under the Sun’ and ‘And Then There Were None’.
The magic of the beach hut includes incredible views across the island and of the sea beneath. In your room, you can expect a stylish modern interior, a dramatic king-size bed overlooking the sea, a large lounge area with a cosy log burner and a large bathroom with a separate shower room.
