Dinner Sample Menu

A DINING OCCASION LIKE NO OTHER

With its exquisite dining room, extraordinary location and award-winning food, The Grand Ballroom is a fine dining restaurant in Devon renowned for elegance and sophistication. We invite you to step back in time to experience the style and grandeur of a bygone age when you dine with us in this spectacular setting

AWARD WINNING FOOD

Our carefully curated menus feature fresh, imaginative and perfectly executed dishes, with ingredients sourced from the seas that surround us, the cliffs that tower in our periphery, and the rugged herbs that grow from our soil.

WORLD CLASS CHEFS

Under the guidance of our Head Chef, Charlotte Vincent, we are immensely proud to have assembled a menu that reflects the very best of our surroundings, seas and shores. With a focus centred around Modern British Cuisine, our new menus draw freely from French and Scandinavian techniques and flavours to create something bold, evocative and daring.

Charlotte’s approach to cooking is rooted deeply in storytelling, and with a prestigious background on the Great British Menu, Charlotte is here to “champion the extraordinary produce of Devon and take our guests on an extraordinary culinary journey.”

BREATHTAKING VIEWS

The unique ambience of the Grand Ballroom is only outshone by our stunning tidal island location on the Devon coast, surrounded by golden beaches, silver seas, striking rural cliffs and blooming local flora and fauna.

ELEGANT, ETHICALLY SOURCED CUISINE, IMPECCABLY SERVED

With seasonal, sustainable menus combining creative and classic dishes, The Grand Ballroom showcases the best of British culinary tradition.

The divine food and drink on our a la carte menus reflect the very best of what we have local to us. Recent updates to the menu include a Rare and Pasture Charcuterie just moments from our hotel, offering a full field to table dining experience. Our fresh scallops are now harvested directly from the sea and sourced from a local diver and their singular fishing boat, while daily walks across the island yield foraged bounties of oyster leaves and rock samphire.

STYLE AND GLAMOUR IN ORIGINAL ART DECO SURROUNDINGS

Black tie and evening dress are absolutely de rigueur for all guests in the Grand Ballroom. Don your finest attire, surrounded by original Art Deco murals and furnishings, and be transported back to the delightfully decadent splendour of the 1930s.

You simply cannot overdress for the Grand Ballroom, and after dinner, you may even be enticed onto the dancefloor by the infectious sound of live jazz. Dinner service is accompanied by a live band on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and a pianist on the days around this.

THE PINNACLE OF FINE DINING

Dining in the Grand Ballroom is always a celebration; a night to savour the best flavours of the local area, an opportunity to taste what makes our island so spectacular, and the chance to taste the mastery of Head Chef Charlotte Vincent. The experience begins with drinks and canapes served in the Palm Court Bar before you take in the glorious coastal views and enjoy the very best examples of our most beloved flavours and local produce.

Indulge in an evening of timeless Grand Ballroom charm and create truly special memories on Burgh Island that will last a lifetime.

We only had a one night stay but it was heaven. We made the most of it and dined is the ballroom. The staff were so welcoming and attentive and it all felt very genuine. Everyone said ‘you’ll be back’ and I suspect they’re right.
