As the clocks turn back and autumn leaves fall, there is nothing better to have in hand than a classic cocktail. Burgh Island’s own cocktail maestro, Gary MacBar, shares his perfect cocktails for the Halloween season and autumn months ahead.
75ml Plymouth Gin
10ml Lime juice
20ml gomme syrup
Pour all of the ingredients together with ice into a cocktail shaker and stir. Strain and pour into an iced martini glass. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a squeeze of lime.
Remember – anything Martini is stirred and NEVER shaken.
2-3 dashes of chocolate bitters
75ml Dead Mans fingers Rum (Cornish) or a spiced rum of your choice
25ml gomme syrup
Traditionally served with Bourbon, this autumnal cocktail is the perfect blend of firecracker and home comforts designed to warm the cockles up in the cooler months. Its chocolate flavours are the perfect treat for a Halloween evening!
First, stir the rum and syrup together with ice for one minute before adding the bitters. Keep stirring for another 7 minutes, then strain and serve in a whisky tumbler with an orange garnish.
