MORE ABOUT US

FOOD AND DRINK WITH A REAL LOCAL FLAVOUR

Looking for a pub or restaurant in Bigbury-on-Sea? The Pilchard Inn is here. Our traditional coastal inn is an old smuggler’s haunt with low ceilings, open fires and plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.

Find a cosy corner and sample a host of locally brewed craft beers, wines, local ciders and spirits to accompany a menu of simple, seasonal and scrumptious dishes.

There’s also plenty of outdoor seating for alfresco drinks and dining with a truly magnificent view at our pub in Bigbury-on-Sea.

A COASTAL HIDEAWAY

GREAT TIMES AND ADVENTURE AWAIT

The Pilchard is everything you want from a pub in Devon. As one of the oldest pubs in Devon, the inn originally served the fishermen who lived on the island and nearby mainland; then the smugglers and wreckers who lured ships onto the rocks – and now you can venture over the causeway to enjoy its charms year-round … but remember to keep an eye on the tides!

And remember, we’re dog friendly.

What’s not to like. Fantastic food, we had steak. Lovely local cider from a few miles away. Excellent location. So quaint and old inside. But what made it was the staff, very efficient and great humour.
